Hi everyone

Now last week I said that this week we would introduce our new team member. However due to sudden family illness our new team member has had to pull out. We are extreemly sorry to lose her and her wonderful work, and hope that her family member improves rapidly.  We have decided on a new team member who will be starting with us for challenge 13 (although we may renumber it LOL to 14)

When we started This Thursday we decided that we would have some weeks where there were no sponsors and no prizes, because it shouldn’t all be about winning prizes .  As we have constantly had sponsors from the beginning we have decided that for the next 2 weeks the challenges are going to be just about taking part for the fun of it. It also gives the design team some real playing time where we can start with a completly blank page.

The challenge this week is Blings the thing  so we want to see loads of shine, sparkle, glitter and glimmer with some added pow and pizzazz. Or as usual  you can interpret the title however it inspires you

So here are the design team examples for this week

Our guest designer this week is Rebecca Clews , we would like to thank her for her brilliant examples and hope that she enjoyed playing with this weeks theme. A few words from Becky

I started crafting with cross stitch about 8 years ago when a colleague at work introduced me to the craft. I bought a magazine with a cover kit and stitched it all with 6 strands! It looked awful and still makes me laugh thinking about it now! I started making cross stitch cards and gradually my cards were made primarily with paper crafting materials.
My favourite technique is rubber stamping and I am lucky enough to be on the Design Team of two rubber stamping companies – OneFourZero and Dinky Dots Crafts where I make cards to show on my blog, their websites and craft magazines. I also design for two challenge Blogs – My Time to Craft Challenge and The Penny Black Saturday Challenge. And, of course, it’s an honour to be a guest designer on ‘This Thursday’ this week!

You can see more of Beckys work at  Becky’s Happy Crafting Place

We have some free papers for you this week which you will find on our free downloads page

Tracey here. For the next two weeks I will be unable to comment on anyones entries, please don’t think that I can’t be bothered, I love looking through the entries each week. they are all so inspiring and your standard of work is amazing, Catch you all later

Good luck with your new Team member, girls. Real life is a pain sometimes, isn’t it? I have taken part for the joy of taking part – I always am grateful for inspiration and feedback in all honesty! Also, my lucky streak in winning is long over, so… *shrugs and grins*

I don’t know what is happening to the slide show, I only see the first few then it stops and if I refresh it goes back to the beginning. What a shame I would like to see them all!

Also could you clarify the actual closing time please? It says 5pm Wednesday on the blog but I have been told by comment on my blog twice now that it is 6 pm which is what I worked to yesterday. (Yes last week I was late at 6:15).

  7. Cazzy Says:

I clicked on view all images, now I have seen them all, and they are very good.

Tracey, thanks for letting me know it is now 5pm. Hopefully I will manage to do this long before that in future.

Now for the question of 15 or 20: if you are having trouble deciding 15 you have to ask yourselves will it be harder because you have to pick more, or easier because there are always a few you have to eliminate due to the number despite them being good?

If it is the latter then you could still have the same problem as this challenge blog grows in popularity.

I have been lurking for a whiel but there was no way I could resist the theme of “Bling”

  27. […] the Thing! August 30, 2008 — susanshoe The latest challenge at the This Thursday blog is called “Bling’s the thing!” And here’s the card I came up with. […]

  28. susanshoe Says:

I don’t know if I’ve taken too long to do this one, and missed the deadline, but I had a lot of fun and I’d like to show off my card anyway, if that’s ok. The bling just doesn’t photograph well, but there are several holographic cards, some glitter card, some shimmer paper, some mirri card, of course some gems and some metallic ribbon. Lol, when it catches the light, sparkles and shapes just dance across 😉
    Here is my entry.
